English AA draft 3

Water dripped from leaking pipes which ran through walls. Rats and lizards were crawling all over the stench floor. Seri and her best friend, Lyia, were remembering the days when they had fun together. Both of them were joyful because they still remembered their long last friendship and had to face the consequences which they should not have done.
Seri was playing hide and seek all by herself in the tea plantation while waiting for her mother to finish her job. While she was running around, she saw a little girl carrying a haversack near an old well. She came up to her and says, “Hello, my name is Seri what’s yours?”
The little girl gave an odd expression which shows that she does not understand English. Seri gave another try but she shows signs while saying, “It seems that you do not understand much English, but will you play with me?” The little girl nodded her head. Soon Seri and the little girl became friends and played together until the end of the day. Seri’s mother invited her to her house to have dinner. She checked her haversack and found a birth certificate and found out that this girl name was Lyia and was an orphan. She also found out that Lyia was born in Sri Lanka and in the same year as Seri. Seri’s mother signed Lyia up for school together with Seri. Lyia was a fast learner and is now competing with Seri.
Seri and Lyia both graduated from their primary school and now waiting to go to high school. But in order to go there they need money and good grades. Seri and Lyia had the good grades but do not have the money. The day after, they receive mails from the government that they have gained independent but only those who have Ceylon Citizenship can have the rights for the citizenship which they need to have forefathers who were born in Sri Lanka or they must be born in Sri Lanka. Seri and Lyia were happy that they receive the Ceylon Citizenship because they were born in Sri Lanka. Both of them saw Seri’s mother going out of the house without saying a word.
“Mom why with the long face?” Seri asked politely, both of them look worried.
“Your grandfather will be coming to take you and Lyia to his hometown where you all can further your studies and make me proud”. Seri and Lyia understand the problem and prepare their bags.
“Then what about you, mom?” Seri asked before she boards the truck.
“Don’t worry about me, I can still survive working in this tea plantation and don’t forgot to visit me once in awhile,” Durga replied with tears rolling down her cheek.
Seri and Lyia was choosing their rooms and unpacking their bags. They then went to the nearest high school. The first day in high school was exciting but there are some gossips and some students there bad mouthing about them. They will always get prank or joked about because Seri’s parents were from India and Lyia was an orphan. Both of them got used to these things and concentrated more on their studies. Seri’s grandfather, Gori, was doing well in his business until the new official language came into act. Gori needed to learn Sinhala in three years because he works with the government and if he does not learn Sinhala, he will lose his job and business. Three years have passed but Gori still could not learn Sinhala therefore he was out of business and his company had been closed down. Seri and Lyia suffered because her grandfather could not pay for the school fee. Fortunately, Seri and Lyia managed to get to university and take engineering course. Seri and Lyia completed the course and now looking for a job but there was one problem. The job that they want required them to know Sinhala but both of them only know a few basic Sinhala words. They soon realized that it was hopeless. So they returned to their home to be with Seri’s mother. Unfortunately, they saw three Sinhalese peasants walking in and out of the house. Seri and Lyia questioned them and the peasants gave them an enveloped which was about where Seri’s mother was living and why the peasants are staying in that house. It was because of the Resettlement policy in 1950. Seri and Lyia went to find the address. Seri was glad that her mother was still living. Seri and Lyia worked part-time in a shop near her house and worked in the tea plantation every Saturday and Sunday. One evening, the Tamil Indians went to protest to the government. Seri and Lyia did not want to take part in this riot. The Tamil Indians made the Tamil Tigers and recruited a lot of young girls and boys. Many were brainwashed or forced to join the Tamil Tigers.
Sound of boots marching across could be heard from the enclosed and quiet house. The Tamil Tigers marched passed the haunted house without even stopping to check the house. “Halt!” a loud voice shouted across the troop, “You! Check the house.”
Lyia went into the house with much confidence but after the door she whispered quietly, “Seri please come out, if you join us we can have freedom and our free land.”
Seri and her mother were hiding behind the shelf holding a big wok and a sharpened bamboo pole to protect themselves. As soon as they heard Lyia’s voice they released their defence but around dozen of soldiers stormed into the house and surround Seri and her mother. “This house is totally surrounded by my soldiers. If you do not give in, we shall shoot you!” the commander scream which made Seri and her mother shocked. In the end, Seri and Lyia became the top soldiers in the camp.
Both of them were then assigned to destroy all documents which were related to the Tamil Tigers. Their leader said that they have to either destroy the whole place or retrieve the documents safely. Both of them planned out everything that they need and were about carry out the plan. Seri and Lyia were hiding in a garbage truck which will always stop at the government house. Both of them quietly tip toed into the house. They had someone from the academy to help lookout for them but she betrayed them because of money and now, they were caught and being jailed and had to face their consequences which was death.

i can make a difference

Name: MUHD HAFIZClass: 2E2Date: 17/04/08Title: I can make a difference

I can make a difference in the environment by making use of the R’s. Recycle, reduce and reuse this words can make a difference for example, the drink can that I have drank can be recycle in the recycling plant. I can even reduce the number electricity use by using the sunlight at day light and only turn off lights went not being use. I also try to reuse old plastic bottles and decorate it to make a pencil holder or a small rubbish bin. There are a lot of things that can be reuse to a more nicer or beautiful product. When I use the 3R’s, I can make a whole lot of different to help Earth. From this I can reduce global warming and safe Earth. One help can make a different.

Other ways that I can make a difference are, boil the needed amount of water for making tea, ride a bicycle to school then using car, reuse used papers to make a draft for composition, use a fan at night then an air conditioner.

Write about a time when you lost something expensive, but gained a valuable lesson in return draft 2

I had a new, branded and sky blue play station portable (PSP), I showed it to my friends; boasting and not letting anyone touch it. During recess, I played my PSP with my friends. Three days had passed and nothing had happened.
I placed my PSP carelessly inside my bag; I went to the science laboratory to do a practical test that had been told by my teacher. The bell rang and I rushed towards the classroom to have my next lesson which was English. After school I went home. While I was on the bus, I opened my bag and search for my PSP but I cannot seem to find it. I thought I have left it in school, so I went back. I search it under my table but under it were books and files. I panic calling my friends if they had seen my PSP but none know where it was.
I remembered how carelessly I had placed it in my bag without zipping it, a robbery may occurred when I was in the laboratory. I blame myself and had learned a very important which is to secure each an every valuable I had and to watch out for suspicious person nearby. Robber may happen at anytime, anywhere of the day and night.

Write about an occasion when you found yourself having to deal with an emergency

I became panic-stricken in a lift containing four people including me. One of them was breathing heavily which was suffering from asthma, forgotten to bring his inhaler, he lay on the floor in pain. Another one of them who was an old lady was coughing badly, needing her medicine running out of it. The last person there was a young muscular and fit teenager standing there not knowing what to do.

All of this started when I woke up late at around seven in the morning, throwing my blanket a side, and running towards my wardrobe taking out my necessary item and changing in my uniform in a flash. I was running towards the door with a slice of bread on my mouth and half-way wearing my socks. Rushing towards the lift with my shoes untie, waiting there impatiently

It was seven ten in the morning; the lift went slow, because I was leaving at the tenth floor it will take about one minute to arrive at the first floor but today there was something weird happening. The lift should be going faster because there were only four people in it. I felt scared because this was unusual. Then suddenly the lift jolted and came to a stop. The boy began shouting feeling scared. he then was breathing heavily saying that he has asthma attack, searching his pockets for an inhaler.

Just as one incident was happening, another occurred. Now the old lady was coughing badly, saying that she needed her medicine but she ran out of it.

"Does anyone have a hand phone because we can contact the police with it?"said the teenager, I lend my hand phone to him but when he try calling there was no signal.

"I have an idea. This is how it goes; you are strong and fit which should be able to open the door lift and I am small which I'm be able to fit through it, from there I can call for help.

The teenager started opening the door, with much strength the door opened. I started going through the small opening which was on the top left. Finally I managed to go through it.I ran towards the nearest public hoe and make a call to the police for help. They manage to come in two minutes and rescue the boy and the old lady.It was 7.35a.m then, I took a taxi to school because I was late 5 minutes. On the way to my school, I was thinking of detention in school and what will happen when I arrive there. To my surprise the school gate was opened, from there I was astonish, usually the school gate would be close after 7.30a.m but now it was open. I ran towards the hall where the assembly would be taking place. I entered the hall with a round of applause when everyone in the hall was looking at me. The principle called me to the stage, beside was a policeman holding a medal. Then I have relised that I was not late for nothing I have done a good deed which the medal I receive was the proof.

An Incident when I was caught in a storm

Name: Muhd Hafiz Class: 2E2
Date:12/2/08
Draft 2
An Incident when I was caught in a storm Thunder boomed in the distance, I stared at the sky where big cauliflower clouds were boiling up, soaking us wet with showers that pierced through our skin. The boat was swinging from left to right continuously.
We struggle for anything that was on the ship to cover us. Even if we found a long sheet of cloth we were soon saturated. We were shivering because of the coldness. I was finding poles to erect a strong shelter for us both. The storm suddenly eased, hoping that it would not come again. The storm was hideous and furious. We soon landed on the ground.

Draft 2
Title: Confession of Altophobic
I was hanging from the edge of a 6 metres building .It all started with climbing old walls, abandoned buildings, and tall fences. At that time, I dared my friends and brothers, but this time, they tried to dare me to climb the 6 metres building. Accepting the challenge was a bad idea. I was then waiting at the foot of the building with very grassy walls. The whistle was blown and I started climbing, searching for cracks and grips. Suddenly, the edge that I was gripping on broke and I fell. Luckily, there was another edge which was near and I quickly gripped it. I call for help because I was terrified. The firefighters came and help me down with a ladder.
